현대의 주방용품은 각계각층의 유명 디자이너들이 참여하여 디자인할 만큼 기능적인 요소와 심미적 요소가 더해지며 단순히 조리를 위한 도구가 아닌 디자인 제품으로 나날이 발전하고 있다. 또한, 우리나라는 식생활의 발전과 함께 서구 음식문화의 유입으로 주방용품에도 많은 변화가 나타났다. 그러나 현재 한국의 주방용품은 대부분 서양식 문화에 따른 디자인이거나 수입품에 의존하는 상황이다. 그러므로 한식의 세계화와 더불어 다양한 한국 음식 조리법의 특성에 알맞은 조리도구의 개발이 필요하다.
따라서 본 연구에서는 나라별 조리도구 사용법 비교를 통해 문제점을 인식하고, 현대 주방용품 현황을 파악한 후 현재 우리나라 조리도구 실태에 대하여 조사하였다.

이를 통하여 한국의 주식과 부식의 대표적인 음식의 사례를 들고, 조리법의 특성과 조리도구와의 관계를 분석하여 이를 적용한 조리도구를 디자인해 보았다.
Modern kitchenwares are developing as many famous designers get involved in designing them. As a result, design is an important part in kitchenwares, which used to be just tools for cooking. Also, there has been a lot of changes in kitchenwares as dietary life changes and Western food culture affects Koreans. Unfortunately, most Korean kitchenwares are designed based on Western cultures or imported from the West. Therefore, as Korean foods are globalized, Korean kitchenwares must be developed in a way that are suitable for cooking various Korean foods.
I provided some typical examples of Korean main dishes and side dishes, and designed cooking utensils that are specialized for Korean foods by applying the relationship between the kitchenwares and the way of cooking.
